Gidget Inn is about 1km away from the middle of town. It has a outdoor pool and a cafe/bar grill restaurant. The room has a kettle for hot drinks, fridge, and TV. The best thing about the stay was the bed. It is one of the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. It comes with extremely smooth bed sheets (that must be made of very high thread counts). The large toilet is large. The adjoining shower is on the other side of a 1.8m wall. The water that comes out of the shower head sprayed in all directions. It probably has a lot of lime scales built up. Hence, not very good water pressure. The towels provided are rather thin and some are even threading on the sides. But they are clean. Also, they cleaned my room, took my used towels away and never replaced them. I had to go to the reception to ask for clean towels.
Staff was friendly and efficient. The coffee and snacks were delicious. The place is pretty and well designed. It's one of my favorite places in Cloncurry.
Pros: The Gidgee is easily the best accommodation in Cloncurry. Spacious, comfortable rooms, working AC, a great bar and an excellent restaurant. Stay the night and have a steak! Cons: Stayed twice in the last year, both times in different rooms and both times with a broken lock on the door. Slept with the chain holding the door shut. A bit unnerving to be honest...
Is the best motel in town, $180 per night, stayed a week same price. Rooms are freshened each day not cleaned. Towels never got changed all week. Overall well presented and most staff are friendly.
Absolutely appalled with how this business operates. After booking a room online and being sent confirmation which clearly states check-in closes at 10pm. I arrived at 9:30pm after a full day of driving to a closed reception. There was no after hours number and no after hours box anywhere. Definitely do not recommend this property at all, they have no respect for people and were quite happy to let myself and my brother sleep on the side of the road. This business does not even deserve 1 star.
